Who we are
Mission
To promote volleyball and the well-being of the 2SLGBTQ+ community of the National Capital Region by offering fun, inclusive, and positive spaces for 2SLGBTQ+ people and allies of all skill levels to play volleyball and collaborating with other like-minded organizations, groups and individuals with similar goals and values.
Vision
That all members and friends of the 2SLGBTQ+ community feel that they have the opportunity to participate, develop, and excel in the sport of volleyball at the level of their choice, in a safe, inclusive and encouraging environment.
Values
PCV’s programming is carried in a way that encourages the following core values:
Health
We provide opportunities for members and allies of the 2SLGBTQ+ community to actively engage in the sport of volleyball promoting greater physical and mental health.
Participation
We promote a safe and supportive environment for our community to participate in competitive and recreational volleyball and encourage all members of our community to participate in the Organization’s programs, tournaments, and events.
Community
We cultivate a welcoming environment that fosters a sense of belonging and engage with individuals and community groups on important issues related to 2SLGBTQ+ sport.
Integrity
We embody honesty and ethical behavior in everything we do, guided by our by-laws, policies, procedures, structures, and principles, to ensure the organization’s long-term viability and sustainability.
Diversity
We celebrate our diversity and promote inclusion by treating everyone with respect and understanding; regardless of sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, ethnicity, age, income, or ability.

Governance.
Board of Directors
PCV is managed and operated by a Board of Directors, consisting of up to eight volunteer members. The Board generally meets once a month to plan and organize PCV’s programs and events, as well as make strategic decisions about PCV’s long-term sustainability.
At each Annual General Meeting (AGM) in December, the pCV members elect four Directors to serve two-year terms.

How we operate.
By-laws
As a not-for-profit organization, Pride Capital Volleyball must have by-laws which outline the conduct required by its directors, officers, and members. PCV’s by-laws have been enacted by the Board of Directors on December 8, 2019, and confirmed by members who attended the Annual General Meeting held on December 18, 2019.
Committees
PCV has committees whose responsibility is to advise the Board of Directors on issues of policy, finance, governance and leading the recruitment and election of directors to the board. These committees are:

Gay Ottawa Volleyball has developed various policies and guidance documents to ensure the league is managed in a fair and transparent manner. These policies have been enacted by the Board of Directors.

Past and current Board members have drafted a Strategic Intent, to articulate a longer-term vision for PCV and how it will grow, based on our core principles, values and needs.
