Capital Pride

The Event

Capital Pride is a vibrant and inclusive annual celebration of the 2SLGBTQ+ community in the National Capital Region. Capital Pride features a series of festivities, including parades, concerts, parties, and community gatherings, creating a safe and supportive space for individuals to express themselves and share their stories. GOV is thrilled to be taking part in the annual parade and operating an information booth as part of the annual street festival.

Ways You Can Help

Info Booth Ambassador

Date: Saturday Aug 26th or Sunday Aug 27th
Time: 3 hour slots from 10am to 7pm (your choice)
# needed: 2 per slot

As an info booth ambassador, you will have a unique opportunity to connect with 2SLGBTQ+ folks in Ottawa by answering questions from the public about GOV programming, encouraging people to get involved, giving away GOV merch and encouraging folks to sign up for our league newsletter. If you're a social person, this is the role for you!

Pride Parade - GOV Float Marcher

Date: Sunday Aug 27th
Time: 12pm to 3pm
# needed: 30 people

As a float marcher, you will have the unique experience of walking with GOV in the Capital Pride Parade. Throughout the parade route, you will be able to get to know your fellow GOV players, jam out to some great music and enjoy some awesome vibes; all while showing the best that GOV has to offer!

Pride Parade - GOV Float Pepperer

Date: Sunday Aug 27th
Time: 12pm to 3pm
# needed: 6 people

It is tradition in GOV's float to have 3 pairs of players peppering behind the float while we go through the route. This role is an opportunity to showcase your volleyball skills in front of a crowd. This role is fairly chill but does require volunteers to be able to 'pepper' or consistently bump and volley in a controlled manner.
