May 31st - Beach Basics

Are you newer to beach or volleyball in general?  Or have you been around a while and want to go back to basics to refine your technique?  Do you want some tips on how to move in the sand, adjust to the wind or practice making ball contacts with whatever the weather has to throw at you?  Join us for this basic skills session where we will focus on technique, provide reps and coaching on ball skills including serving, passing, digging, setting, attacking and blocking in the sand.

June 14th – Playing Fours

In this session, we will look at key skills for both offense and defense including serving, passing, setting, and attacking when playing 4-on-4 beach volleyball. We will emphasize teamwork and communication, working on positioning and rotations to ensure players can effectively cover the court and execute strategic plays.

June 28th  – 2-on-2 Fundamentals

Here we will cover the basics of 2-on-2 beach volleyball.  Serve receive (1st contact), setting (2nd contact), attacking (shot options), defense (block/dig) and service.  The goal is to develop players’ understanding of the skills, flow and movement required to play the 2-on-2 beach game.

July 12th -  Reception/Side out

For this session, we will focus on serve receive to attack.  This will include working on passing/setting and attack strategies in a 2-on-2 setting.  Game situation drills will provide opportunities to practice the transition from reception to attack and allow for live feedback.  For this session, participants are expected to have basic ball control (being able to forearm or hand pass a ball to a target) to allow for meaningful rallies.

July 26th  - Serve/Defense

This session will include work on techniques for service, blocking and defense in 2-on-2 beach volleyball.  We will work on reading the first two contacts of an opponent to better set up a defense to counterattack.  For this session, participants are expected to have basic ball control (being able to forearm or hand pass a ball to a target) to allow for meaningful rallies.

August 9 – Strategy/Gameplay

This is an all-encompassing session that looks at strategies for getting your opponents to do what you want them to do.  We will work on creating a serve/defensive strategy in the 2-on-2 beach game that funnels the defense to work with your strengths.  On serve receive, we will work on creating the best situation for a successful side out.  For this session, participants are expected to have basic ball control (being able to forearm or hand pass a ball to a target) to allow for meaningful rallies.
